Our Journey

First Meeting

May 2023

It all started with a WhatsApp message.

Out of the blue, he texted me—thanks to a mutual connection who must've known we'd get along. We didn't know it yet, but that message was the beginning of something special. After some casual chatting (and a little digital charm), he asked me out on a "blind date."

A week later, we had our first date at Tops Diner (which we 10/10 recommend). Yes, I was a little late (oops!), but he didn't hold it against me. He was kind, patient, and still smiling when I walked in. Over breakfast and easy conversation, something just clicked. We laughed, we talked like old friends, and before we knew it, hours had flown by.

From that morning on, things just kept getting better. One text turned into forever—and the rest is history. 💌

The Proposal

May 2025

It all started with a dinner invite—two weeks in advance—from Bryan and Nat (thanks for the assist… sincerely, Manuel). The plan was a triple date at The Hill with them, Joel and Diana, and us. Sounds simple, right? Except… we never actually ate at The Hill (still haven't to this day!).

As we were getting ready, things began to unravel—in the most dramatic, Oscar-worthy way. Nat absolutely earned her award for Best Actress that night as a fake argument broke out, followed by phantom reservations that were mysteriously missed, and general chaos that led us to start canceling plans altogether. Jess, being the practical one, started looking for other restaurants, but Nat kept insisting, "Let's just go home."

Little did Jess know, everything was already in motion.

Trying to keep things cool, Manny casually suggested, "Why don't we just stop by my aunt's house? There's a family barbecue going on and Abuela's in town." Jess agreed, still thinking the night could be salvaged—and even added, "Let's go see Thunderbolts after." (Spoiler: we still haven't seen it.)

It was raining, but nothing seemed too suspicious—just a weird, off-kilter night. But right before getting out of the car, Jess looked around with tears in her eyes and asked if everyone was really sure they wanted to cancel.

They walked into the backyard… and that's when everything changed.

The sad, confused tears turned into tears of joy as Jess realized what was actually happening: this wasn't just a family barbecue. It was the moment. Surrounded by loved ones, candle lights, and rain-kissed memories, Manny got down on one knee—and the answer was yes.
